We value privacy above all and know the wide range of photos that exist in people's camera rolls. That's why the entire experience on the app: selecting, predicting, reviewing, and deleting photos all happens on device. That means it never leaves your device, we will never collect, send, or even be able to see your photos. We will never store your photos on any server. 

We use face detection in the app to determine whether or not the person you selected as your ex, is in photos in your camera roll. This data is NEVER shared with third parties, is NEVER collected, viewed, or uploaded to any server. Just like photos, the face data used is stored on your device. Once you delete the photos of your ex, the face detection data is deleted from your device. 

Our Face detection system uses a system called vectoring, when you take a picture of someone’s face, it turns it into a list of many numbers into a data structure called a vector. We then compare photos that we know have faces in them, using Apple’s VNDetectFaceRectanglesRequest (This is important because this stays on device, the work is never done on a server). We crop the faces observed in the photo from the user’s photo library and get their vectors. We compare these vectors to see how far away they are from the original photos the user selected indicating their ex. If they are in a close distance, we will add this photo to be reviewed for deletion by the user. This entire process, occurs on device. These vectors are deleted from the device the moment the user selects which photos they would like to delete. This app does not use these vectors to train any model on device. 

These vectors are stored in memory on the iOS app. If the app is killed by the operating system or experiences a cold start in the middle of the user reviewing what photos to delete, the vectors are stored in a file on device, and then subsequently deleted once pulled into memory when resuming the photo review session. 

TLDR; we will NEVER collect, send, trains on, or be able to see your photos or face detection data. Everything STAYS on your device and is deleted once the session is over.

We (Delete your ex) use analytics services to ensure a great user experience and to track metrics such as the total count of photos you've deleted. All events tracked are anonymous, not tied to you as an individual, and never collects any specific user data or information.
